Rebuilding Connection: The game changer for teams and leaders
When we say Connect is one of our company values, we’re pointing to something far deeper than simply meeting or messaging.
It is about the quality, authenticity, and care that underpins every human interaction especially in the workplace. Because connection isn’t a “nice extra” it can be a true game changer when teams and leaders lean into it purposefully.
Let’s start with a reality check. Globally, only around 21 % of employees say they feel truly engaged at work. (Wellable) Disengagement is not just a soft problem: it’s estimated to cost organisations trillions in lost productivity and innovation. (blog.empact.app)
Meanwhile, teams with high engagement tend to be 18 % more productive and deliver 23 % higher profitability than their less engaged peers. (Archie) What separates those outcomes? Not strategy or systems alone—but the relationships that people have with their leaders and each other.
When connections are weak or transactional, people feel unseen. When they’re authentic, generous, curious, leaders and teams feel supported, heard, and motivated. That’s where you begin to see people show up differently. But building this isn’t accidental, it’s intentional.
Here are some questions to consider:
Where in your team or culture do you see connection breaking down (or motivation dipping)?
What small gestures or practices could shift that? Are you making the time for one-on-one check-ins, real listening & deeper feedback conversations?
How might your role as a leader change if you invited more inquiry and invited feedabck ….. “How are things really?” rather than always having answers?
What would it take to make relational strength a metric you care about, not just output or throughput?
When connection becomes a cultural impact, not a side project something different happens. Trust deepens. People lean in. Resilience grows. Performance follows.
I invite you to reflect on where connection is lacking or underinvested in your team today & consider what might shift if you chose to make it central.
If you’d like to talk through or share your relfections, we’d love to be part of that conversation.
